This is the starting point for developers, engineers, and residences who seek information about water and sewer connection and permitting in the City of Raleigh's service area. When our water and sewer infrastructure needs extensions and permitting, our Team reviews plans, designs, and connection processes to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and material standards.
Raleigh Water provides water and sanitary sewer services in Raleigh, Garner, Wake Forest, Rolesville, Knightdale, Wendell, and Zebulon. Our mission is to provide inclusive, safe, and sustainable water services to our diverse community while equitably protecting public health and contributing to our service area's economic, environmental, and social vitality.
Announcement of Process Change
Starting June 1, 2025, Raleigh Water is updating the water and sewer permitting and plan review process for our merger communities. Key changes include:
- Utility Connection & Stub Permits will now be issued through Raleigh’s Permit and Development Portal.
- Applicants must now submit plans to both the merger town and Raleigh portals.
- Construction Drawings will be reviewed and approved only in Raleigh’s system.
- Payments for plan reviews will move to Raleigh’s portal for all projects.
These changes will streamline reviews, centralize permitting, and improve project tracking.
A dedicated webpage with instructions and resources will be shared soon. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to supporting you through this transition.
