Raleigh Water Capital Improvement Projects (CIP)
Raleigh Water manages the water and wastewater systems in the City of Raleigh and nearby merger towns, including Garner, Knightdale, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell, and Zebulon. The CIP Division works on improving the infrastructure for these important utility systems, which consist of many pipes, pump stations, treatment plants, and storage facilities.
Submittal Types
This process page outlines the submittal for the following types of projects:
- Raleigh Water CIP Projects in Raleigh and Merger Towns
- North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Plan
- NCDOT Projects that require relocation of water and sewer mains.
Please note that private development plans cannot be submitted through this process. Plans in Raleigh’s Jurisdiction must be sent to the Planning and Development Customer Service Center or follow the specific process set by the Merger Communities - Plan Review Process for Raleigh Water plans
Review Process
The Project Manager or Consultant for Raleigh Water projects will submit linear projects and building plans in accordance with the following processes:
- Linear Projects in Raleigh’s Jurisdiction
- Submit plans for scoping, reviews, and permitting at the Planning and Development Customer Service Center.
- Linear Projects in Merger Communities
- Submit Plans for review, approval and permitting over the Permit and Development Portal.
- Plans – Then scroll to “Submittals for Raleigh Water CIP for any NCDOT project in our Service area that affect water and sewer infrastructure.”
- Plans will be approved and permitted when ready for construction review.
- The final signed and permitted plan will be attached to the case on your Portal Account.
- Building Plans in Raleigh
- Submit plans for scoping, reviews, and permitting at the Planning and Development Customer Service Center.
- If the project is located on a site outside Raleigh’s Jurisdiction, but is owned by the City of Raleigh, the plans must be submitted to the Planning and Development Customer Service Center for permitting
- Building and Site Plans in Wake County and Merger Communities
- If the project is located on a site outside Raleigh’s Jurisdiction AND the site is not owned by the City of Raleigh, the plans must be submitted to Wake County for permitting.
Portal Registration Process
Plans must be submitted by the CIP project manager or the consultant working for Raleigh Water CIP. You must have a portal account to track the status of submitted cases.
