Our indoor facilities offer open play times for the community to enjoy popular sports like basketball, volleyball, futsal, table tennis, and more.  To learn more about Open Play opportunities, schedules, and offerings, please contact your local community center.  Come play, stay active, and have fun!

How to Participate

  • Get a free Youth Open Play Pass (ages 17 and younger) or Adult Open Play Pass (18 and older) based on their age.  
    • Register for free online using RecLink or at a community center.
    • A photo is taken as a part of the Open Play Pass.
    • Passes are good for the calendar year.
    • Passes are valid at all centers during the scheduled times.
  • All participants are required to check in at the front desk prior to joining Open Play.
  • Participants must follow community center rules and Open Play Code of Conduct.

General Rules

  • Staff are not responsible for lost or stolen items or personal belongings.
  • The use of equipment such as cones, agility ladders, garbage cans, chairs, or similar items is not allowed.
  • Private lessons, personal training, team practices, group lessons, or any activity for which payment or compensation is received are not permitted during open gym.
  • A maximum of 30 people per gym (40 people for double volleyball courts in one gym).
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the gym, except water.
  • Music must be appropriate for all audiences and kept at a staff approved volume.
  • Appropriate gym attire will be required:
    • Athletic apparel should be worn.
    • Tennis shoes or sneakers are required. Shoes that leave scuff marks or cleats are not allowed.  
    • Shirts must be worn outside the gym.
    • Shorts must be worn properly.
    • Jewelry is not recommended.
  • Ask staff for information about sport-specific rules.

Code of Conduct 

Open play is intended to be inclusive and fair. Participants are expected to rotate players in at reasonable intervals, be courteous to others, and ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate.  Depending on participation levels, community center staff may supervise open play, including organizing teams, game length, etc. to maintain safety and fairness.

Participants who engage in any of the following behaviors may be suspended from open play and from all Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources facilities.

  • Dunking a basketball/hanging on the rim
  • Fighting
  • Use of profanity, profane gestures, or disruptive behavior
  • Littering
  • Vandalism of Parks & Recreation property
  • Possession and/or use of alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia
  • Public intoxication
  • Possession and/or use of a weapon
  • Assault and battery
  • Verbally threatening staff or patrons
  • Theft
  • Participating or allowing others to participate without following the check-in process

These are general rules for suspension and are not all-inclusive. Violations may result in suspension ranging from one day to an indefinite period and may apply to all Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources facilities.
