The following street closings are due to scheduled special events such as festivals, road races, walks, and parades, in addition to construction projects. Some of these activities will affect certain traffic patterns across Raleigh over the next several months.

Atlantic Avenue Construction

Crews are actively working on the Atlantic Avenue Improvement Project. There may be temporary lane closures and traffic shifts during this work. 

For your safety and that of the construction crews, please slow down and follow the flagger's instructions while driving through the construction zone.

Person Street Closures

South Person Street will be closed between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East Davie Street (300–800 blocks).

Intersections at East South Street, East Lenoir Street, and East Cabarrus Street will also be closed, so you’ll want to plan a different route. Expect some delays if you usually drive through this area.

Street Closure for a Water and Sewer Maintenance

Please drive slow through the construction site.

The Raleigh Water Sewer Maintenance Division is currently performing maintenance on N. Bloodworth Street and Pace Street. Pace Street will be closed at N. Person Street and N. Bloodworth Street. 

The intersection will remain open for motorists traveling on N. Bloodworth Street. Motorists traveling on N. Person Street will use E. Franklin Street as a detour.

For your safety, and that of the crews working on this project, drive cautiously through the construction zone.

Overnight Sewer Work Planned on South Wilmington Street

The Raleigh Water Capital Improvement Program will perform sanitary sewer lining work on South Wilmington Street between Morgan Street and Martin Street during overnight hours Thursday, May 7, and Monday, May 11, through Friday, May 15, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

One lane will remain open at all times; however, motorists should expect intermittent lane impacts and overnight traffic control changes at intersections.

For their safety and that of crews working in the area, motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the work zone and to find alternate routes when possible. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this work.
