This project aims to repair or replace the old water and sewer systems in downtown Raleigh. Many of the water and sewer lines in this area are really crucial and are in poor condition. The Phase Three project is being developed in advance to support the future New Bern Avenue Bus Rapid Transit project.

Traffic Impacts
We understand that temporary lane closures and parking restrictions can be inconvenient for people who live, work, and enjoy their time downtown. However, updating old infrastructure now can help avoid emergency pipe breaks in the future, which would cause a much larger disruption.
Current Impacts
Plan ahead if traveling on S. Person Street in downtown Raleigh. A lane closure may cause traffic impacts and delays.
Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 14 and Sept. 15 | 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
S. Person Street: Between E. Hargett Street and E. Martin Street
One lane will remain open during work hours. No street parking will be available. Drivers should slow down, use alternate routes when possible and use caution around the work zone.

Phase three is a section of a bigger, multi-step project aimed at enhancing the water and sewer systems throughout Raleigh. Upcoming phases will carry on with upgrades in different areas of the city.
