The following street closings are due to scheduled special events such as festivals, road races, walks, and parades, in addition to construction projects. Some of these activities will affect certain traffic patterns across Raleigh over the next several months.

Crews are actively working on the Atlantic Avenue Improvement Project. There may be temporary lane closures and traffic shifts during this work. For your safety and that of the construction crews, please slow down and follow the flagger's instructions while driving through the construction zone.
Please note: there is a road closure starting June 23, 2026, on New Hope Church Road associated with the NCDOT project at the New Hope Church Road railroad crossing.

Road Closure: 1700 Block of Stale Street
Please drive slow through the construction site.
Raleigh Water Sewer Maintenance Division will be making emergency repairs to the sewer collection system at the 1700 Block of Scales Street.
DETOUR:
Scales Street will be closed from Fairview Road to West Whitaker Mill Road.
Traffic traveling on Fairview Road will not be allowed to turn onto Scales Street. Motorists will need to turn right onto Duncan Street, then left onto Sunset Drive, which returns them to W. Whitaker Mill Road.
Traffic traveling west on W. Whitaker Mill Road will not be allowed to turn onto Scales Street. Motorists will be detoured left onto Sunset Drive, then right onto Duncan Street, and right onto Fairview Road, which returns them to Scales Street.
There should be no interruptions to the surrounding areas water/sewer services.
Plan ahead if traveling on S. Person Street in downtown Raleigh. A lane closure may cause traffic impacts and delays.
Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 14-15 | 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
S. Person Street: Between E. Hargett Street and E. Martin Street
One lane will remain open during work hours. No street parking will be available. Drivers should slow down, use alternate routes when possible and use caution around the work zone.

Road Closure: West Young Street
Please drive slow through the construction site.
West Young Street, Rolesville
Water Distribution will close northbound West Young Street in Rolesville due to a water lateral leak. Southbound West Young Street will remain open.
Detours: Traffic traveling south on Main Street to Rogers Road will make a right on Rogers Road to Granite Falls Boulevard. Then a right on Granite Falls Boulevard back to West Young Street.
Lane Closure: 3500 Block of Lake Woodard Drive
Please drive slow through the construction site.
Raleigh Water's Sewer Maintenance Division will be performing a sanitary sewer main repair.
There will be a lane closure on the 3500 Block of Lake Woodard Drive.
A flagging operation will be in place throughout the duration of the repair. The 3500 block of Lake Woodard Drive will be reduced to one lane, beginning at Bastion Lane and extending to just beyond 3505 Lake Woodard Dr.
Motorists traveling through the area should use caution.
