The following street closings are due to scheduled special events such as festivals, road races, walks, and parades, in addition to construction projects. Some of these activities will affect certain traffic patterns across Raleigh over the next several months.

The City is deeply concerned about the lack of progress on the Atlantic Avenue widening project and has expressed its concerns to the general contractor, JSmith Civil, and the contractor’s bonding company, Westfield. The City is currently in discussions with the contractor and the bonding company to determine how and when the project will be completed. While a revised timetable for completing the project has yet to be established, City officials are working diligently to arrange for completion of the work as soon as possible. As the City continues its discussions with JSmith Civil and Westfield, it will continue monitoring site conditions in furtherance of its commitment to ensuring that the busy Atlantic Avenue corridor is safe for the motoring public, pedestrians, adjacent landowners, and others. Road closure for sewer improvement
Raleigh Water will conduct a full closure of the 1000 block of Fayetteville Street, between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Levister Court for a planned sewer improvement project beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 31. Closure is expected to last through Friday, Sept. 1, though work schedules are subject to change based on weather and other factors.
Road closure for water line replacement
Raleigh Water will conduct a full closure of the Citation Drive between Auburn Church Road and Conquest Drive for storm drainage improvements and waterline installation. The closure will be from Aug. 15 on 9 a.m. to Aug. 21 at 4 p.m.
Lake Wheeler Road will be closed to through traffic between South Saunders Street and Maywood Avenue from August 25 – 27!
Traffic will be detoured by way of South Saunders Street and Maywood Avenue during the road closure.
The City is closing this section of Lake Wheeler Road to complete underground utility work relating to the Gibson Play Plaza Construction Project.

Expect Delays on Poole Road from Maybrook Drive to Barwell Road
Crews continue working along Poole Road. Traffic has been switched to new temporary pavement while they work on building the other side of the new roadway. Please use caution while traveling through this area.
There will be lanes closures and possible delays during this weekend work.
