The South Saunders Street Project will connect the Lake Wheeler Road improvements to the future Dix-Chavis Strollway by building a multi-use-path on the east side of South Saunders Street to allow safe pedestrian and bike connections between Raleigh's downtown and John Chavis Memorial Park and Dix Park.
The project is funded through the NC Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization's Locally Administrated Projects Program (LAPP) funding.
