History

In 2009, the City of Raleigh adopted a Comprehensive Bicycle Plan that identifies existing bicycle needs and deficiencies, recommends more than 440 miles of new bicycle infrastructure, and provides a program of action for addressing the immediate and long-term needs for bicyclists and bicycle facilities.

The Comprehensive Pedestrian Plan was adopted by City Council on Jan. 2, 2013. The Pedestrian Plan provides strategies for enhancing Raleigh's transportation system to promote walkability throughout the City. The plan assesses the existing facilities, policies, plans, and programs that affect pedestrian mobility and provides recommendations for improvements.
