Western Corridor - Most Recent Update:

The Wake BRT: Western Corridor project has entered the final design phase (30% - 100% design).  There will be public engagement opportunities coming up in Spring and Summer 2025.

The Western Corridor Project was submitted to the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Capital Investment Grant (CIG) program in Fall 2024. Ratings – which indicate how likely the project is likely to receive federal funding in an upcoming President’s Budget – are expected in 2025.

There are two major focus areas for BRT planning in Raleigh:

  1.  Design + Construction of the BRT routes, stations, and bus lanes, and;
  2. Station Area Planning which focuses on community planning for the amenities and areas within a short walk of BRT stations.
