Wake Forest Water Main Replacement & Repair

Improvement project will replace aging materials to meet future infrastructure capacity demand.

The City of Raleigh public utilities (Raleigh Water) plan to perform water main improvements and replacements for seventeen areas of the water distribution system within the Town of Wake Forest. Additionally, this project will involve improvements to the water gravity sewer, storm water infrastructure, and a portion of the south/north Allen roadway.

This project is partially within the following historic districts: Glen Royal Mill Village (nationally registered), Downtown Wake Forest (nationally registered), Wake Forest Historic District (nationally registered), and Wake Forest Historic District (locally registered).

Design

The project is presently in the final design and permitting phases. Master plan approval has been obtained. It is anticipated that construction drawings and permit approvals will be obtained by summer 2024. 

It is expected that this project will receive approval from the City of Raleigh, the Town of Wake Forest, and relevant NC state agencies by summer 2024. The project is expected to be advertised and receive bids within July and August 2024. Construction is anticipated to start during the fall of 2024, with completion planned for the spring of 2026.
