Garner Road Pedestrian Improvements

We are making sidewalk and pedestrian improvements!

The project consists of a sidewalk on the west side of Garner Rd. from the existing sidewalk to Walnut Creek Trail Entrance and from Hoke St. north to McMakin St. 

We are also installing four pedestrian crossings with pedestrian refuges islands and a high visibility crosswalk at Garner Rd. and Bragg St.

Design Update August 2024

The design team completed the advanced design plans and they are being reviewed by the City's Development Services.

We are in the design phase of the project.

Proposed design includes:

  • Sidewalk installations
  • Pedestrian crossings
  • Pedestrian refuge islands
  • Crosswalk installations

Construction Updates

The City advertised the Garner Road Pedestrian Improvements, along with the Colleton Road Sidewalk Project, for construction bids on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025. Construction is expected to start in the winter of 2026.
