Tracking Rainfall in Raleigh

Know your flood risks and stay safe

Over the past few weeks, Raleigh has received up to 10.5 inches of rain in some areas and received double the monthly average of rainfall. With more predicted rainfall coming, here’s information for how we are tracking it and how you can stay safe during flooding.

Track Storms with Us

Raleigh Stormwater tracks rainfall and stream levels when the forecast calls for heavy rain. This includes monitoring different locations along Walnut Creek and Crabtree Creek. Why? This helps first responders close roads and protect the public.

You can track storms with us and see if it’s flooding near you.

Staying Safe During Flooding

Being prepared before a storm helps ensure safety of people and property. Here are some ways you can stay safe during flooding:

  • Never drive in flooded waters. Turn around and find an alternative route.
  • Call 911 if you or someone else is stuck in flooded water or has an emergency.
  • Monitor newscasts, social media, and other outlets for storm alerts.
  • Download the Ready Raleigh Guide (available in English and Spanish).
  • Purchase Flood Insurance to protect valuable assets, such as a home, business, and possessions.
