The playgrounds at Southgate Park will be closed starting Friday, April 25, to maintain the rubberized safety surface. 

Due to the rebuild of the Chestnut Hills electrical substation by Duke Energy, the tee box for hole 8 at the Cedar Hills Park disc golf course is currently within the construction area and inaccessible to park visitors.

The area is expected to remain closed until the end of 2025. Please play from hole 7 directly to hole 9.  A temporary disc golf hole is in place between holes 13 and 14 with the tee pad located near the comfort station.

The playground for ages 2-5 at John Chavis Memorial Park will be closed beginning Wednesday, April 16 to install shade structures.

Construction early 2024 on Harps Mill Road and Grist Mill Road. This project has a contract time of 16 months and is projected to be completed by May 2025.

Raleigh Stormwater is improving the drainage in Simmons Branch. The work will be performed at 3609 Swift Drive between Eakley Court and Merwin Road. Construction began April 2025 and will be completed approximately eight to ten weeks depending on weather.

Currently, we do not anticipate needing to close the road to through traffic. We anticipate some flagging and light traffic control for operations such as materials/equipment mobilization and concrete placement. Local traffic (residents within the work zone) will have access to their driveways and will be able to come and go as needed. Please don’t park on the street within and near the construction area for the duration of construction. 

Construction will begin March 2025. We will then do tree removal, erosion control, and tree and construction fencing  installation. Road closures are going to impact the community, but traffic detours will be posted. The duration of the construction is approximately 10 months which puts the completion in early 2026.

Construction has begun and will continue through Summer 2025 (with some planting in Fall 2025).
