The City is restoring three (3) streams and adding wetlands in Worthdale Park. Construction is expected to begin in September 2025 and be completed in the early 2027.

During on-site work hours, there may be elevated noise or vibrations. The park and Community Center will remain open during construction. Fencing will be placed around the construction area, restricting access to the public. Some parking spots will be used for construction equipment and materials.

Due to construction, the tennis courts, small ballfield, Fitzgerald Dr. entrance, and lower tennis court parking lot will be closed beginning Wednesday, Sept. 16. 

The dog park at Moore Square is temporarily closed as we prepare for exciting improvements.

The temporary pop-up dog park closed in August 2025, and we anticipate our brand-new permanent dog park will open in its place in 2026.

Due to repairs, Baileywick Park Pavilion-Court A is currently closed.

Due to construction for the Sertoma Arts Center renovation and expansion, the Shelley Lake Playground will be closed from Monday, Sept. 21, through Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Due to the Cedar Hills Disc Golf Tournament, the disc golf course will be closed for public play on Saturday, Oct. 3, from  9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

We began construction in June 2025 and plan for it to be completed in Fall 2026. During construction, a portion of the Border Trail at Durant Nature Preserve will be closed and there will be, at times, temporary single lane closures at the corner of Spottswood and Welborn Streets.

Construction crews are actively working on the Lake Wheeler Road Improvement Project. There will be construction activity along sections of Lake Wheeler Road for two years. The good news is - detours are in place, and you can still get to Dix Park and the Farmer’s Market, and residents and businesses will have access to their properties.
