Big Branch Sewer Interceptor Replacement

Existing infrastructure found in this area is undersized and will be replaced and upgraded.

A sewer interceptor is a piece of a sewer network used to control the flow of rainwater, stormwater, and wastewater. Interceptors receive this water flow from interconnecting sewer lines and sometimes from stormwater runoff. This water flow is then directed to a wastewater treatment plant for filtration and disinfection.

Based on wet weather events the existing piping found in this area is undersized and in need of up sizing. This upgrade will prepare the wastewater infrastructure in the area for future demands. The project extends from north of Millbrook Road to inside I-440 at Crabtree Creek.
