Water and Sewer

Mine Creek Outfall Gravity Sewer Replacement

Replacement project to prepare sewer system for wet weather events that may produce higher amounts of storm water.

Approximately 15,900 linear feet of gravity sewer will be replaced with a larger diameter pipe and or an upgraded liner pipe. This replacement will prepare the sewer system for wet weather events that produce a higher amount of storm water. Once completed, the project will protect the sewer system against damage that might occur due to this higher yield.

The work will start at the connection to the Crabtree Creek adjacent to I-440 and extend along the east and west side of Shelly Lake to North Hills Drive. The project will require road crossings at West Millbrook Road and Shelley Road.

History

The existing sewer line is not sized to carry wet weather flows. Back up from this limited capacity found in the sewer line caused the water modeling system to verify that a sanitary sewer overflow could occur during heavy storm events. This project is funded due to this verification. A design option was selected and the project engineer moved forward to Preliminary Engineering Report phase and pre design. Meeting held to discuss the preliminary engineering report during January 2021. Preliminary Engineering Report is complete. Brown and Caldwell prepared cost analysis for design and delivered during Fall 2021.
