Crabtree Creek Interceptor Rehabilitation Project

Existing infrastructure in this area will rehabilitated to extend its service life.

Construction has started for this project. See below for ongoing details. Project will contain a rehabilitation of approximately 7,800 feet of 60- and 66-inch sanitary sewer pipe. This rehabilitation will take place along Crabtree Creek in the area of Riverview Road.

Construction

Cured in place pipe (CIPP) lining work is ongoing. The next upcoming CIPP work area is located east of the intersection of Riverview Road and Rock Drive. Work in this area is anticipated to begin February 19, 2024 and last through March 1, 2024

Manhole replacement is along the project corridor is complete.  The black 36” diameter pipe extending through the project corridor is the bypass sewer line and bypass pumps are near the north end of Rock Drive. This bypass sewer system will remain in place until construction is complete.  Raleigh Water is renewing the oldest pipes of the Crabtree Creek Parallel Interceptor system to upgrade aging infrastructure so that the system can continue to operate safely.

History

In 2017, a condition assessment was completed. This assessment found significant deterioration to current pipes that could lead to failure if not corrected.
