Online Survey for Sound at Commercial Establishments
News Published 7/31/2025 Updated 10/30/2025
On Oct. 21, 2025, City Council amended the noise ordinance to implement decibel-level limits based on the day of the week, time of day, and location in the City.
The City is considering updates to its current Noise Ordinance for commercial establishments. Following a year-long study of key downtown areas, the Sociable City Assessment was presented to City Council in May 2025 by the Responsible Hospitality Institute. The report recommended updates to how commercial sound is managed, with a goal of balancing an active nightlife scene and the quality of life for nearby residents.
As a part of the review process, the City is inviting feedback from all community members, including residents, businesses, and other stakeholders. Complete the online survey to provide feedback on topics such as hours for when outdoor amplified sound from a commercial establishment should be heard and other related details.
The online survey closed Aug. 31. Results will be shared with City Council.
