Revisiting Parts of the Noise Ordinance

Why the City is Considering Changes

The City is reviewing its current Noise Ordinance related to commercial establishments, which was last updated in January 2025. After a year-long downtown study, the Responsible Hospitality Institute presented the Sociable City Assessment to City Council in May 2025. Based on the report's recommendations and resident concerns about outdoor amplified sound, the City is considering updates to how sound from commercial establishments is managed to better support both businesses and neighborhoods, especially in mixed-use areas.
