Bus Rapid Transit Residencies
Three artists-in-residents have led the integration of public art in Wake BRT projects. Understanding the benefits of including local culture, history, and art in community projects, the City continues to work with local artists to identify opportunities for art integration within the Wake BRT corridor projects.

Nature Preserves Residency
Scott Hazard is the current resident artist for the City's Nature Preserves in Raleigh. His work explores how people interact with the land, and includes sculptures, mixed-media works, and wall-mounted sculptures. His site-specific work incorporates environmental art, land art, and sustainable practices. Hazard will create artwork and host events through 2024.
Creating Living Archives Documentarians
Juli Leonard and Johnny Andrews of StoryShed Studio are the first Documentarians-in-Residence for the City of Raleigh. The partnership aims to connect with neighborhoods and enhance city services by celebrating the unique narratives of Raleigh residents.
Dix Park Artist-in-Residence
Preston Montague is the 2025 Artist in Residence at Dorothea Dix Park. Preston is a landscape architect and environmental artist known for blending ecological restoration with art to create spaces that deepen our connection to nature and history.
Wayfinding Artist-in-Residence
The City of Raleigh Department of Transportation has a one-year opportunity for an artist-in-residence to design creative wayfinding signs throughout downtown Raleigh, helping visitors navigate between sites, and create family-friendly itineraries and routes.
