Artist-in-Residence Program
Artist Scott Hazard is the City of Raleigh Artist-in-Residence for Nature Preserves. Hazard is exploring ecologically focused art forms, including environmental art, land art, environmental stewardship, working with natural materials, and sustainable practices. He will create artwork and hold a series of events through 2024-2025.
Raleigh's parks system includes four nature preserves: Annie Louise Wilkerson, MD Nature Preserve Park, Durant Nature Preserve, and Horseshoe Farm Nature Preserve. The resident works with Nature Preserve staff to incorporate art elements that enhance the natural beauty of the parks and promote the mission of preserving wild flora and fauna.
