Raleigh Water Responds to Hydrant Break on Falls River Avenue

The City of Raleigh has repaired a hydrant break near the intersection of Falls River Avenue and Callison Street in the 1300 block of Falls River Avenue.

No boil water advisory is in effect.

To provide clearer communication about water service interruptions, the city’s Public Utilities Department, Water Distribution Division revised its notification terminology in 2018. The city now refers to interruptions caused by loss or low water system pressure as a System Pressure Advisory (SPA).

If a System Pressure Advisory becomes necessary, Raleigh Water will notify affected addresses directly through text messages or door hangers. Customers who receive a notification may contact the number provided for more information.

An advisory does not mean the water is contaminated, but that it could be.

A System Pressure Advisory is different from a Boil Water Notice, which is issued when contamination is confirmed in the water system. During a Boil Water Notice, customers must boil water before consuming it or use bottled water.

For more information about System Pressure Advisories and how they differ from Boil Water Advisories, visit the city’s webpage.
