What We Do Report A Clog or Drainage Issue City Streets and Right-of-Ways

Performing regular maintenance on the stormwater system is critical for proper function of the infrastructure and to reduce failures, hazards, and flooding.

What We Do

The Stormwater Maintenance Team provides a wide range of services to maintain the stormwater system in the city right-of-way:

Stormwater Inspections

Staff inspect the condition of stormwater infrastructure (pipes, drains, inlets, outlets) by using pole cameras, pipe inspection crawlers, and more. Video and images are taken to capture the condition of a pipe.

Stormwater Maintenance

Staff can clean, flush, repair, and replace stormwater pipes; sweep streets, repair bridges, and manage seasonal loose leaf collection during the late fall and early winter.

Report A Clog or Drainage Issue

Residents can report clogged storm drains and catch basins by completing a Storm Drainage Problem Form or calling 919-996-6446Staff will follow up and clean the pipe to prevent additional flooding.

City Streets and Right-of-Ways

Stormwater system and street maintenance responsibility is divided between private owners, the City of Raleigh, or the NC Department of Transportation. Raleigh Stormwater staff only maintain infrastructure within the city right-of-way. Private property owners can email StormwaterDrainage@raleighnc.gov or call 919-996-3779 to receive a list of contractors that can perform inspections and maintenance.
