Concrete Pipe on Sweetbriar Drive

Stormwater

Sweetbriar Drive Stormwater Project

Drainage System Improvements

An undersized reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) is causing significant yard and crawl space flooding issues at residences along Sweetbriar Drive. In addition, the road itself is subject to frequent flood events. This project will develop a flood study and design plans to determine the optimum stormwater pipe size and other drainage improvements to bring this stormwater system up to the minimum City of Raleigh design criteria if possible.

Design

Field survey and data collection efforts are complete. We received early design plans November 2024. Final design plans will be completed Fall 2025.

Proposed Upgrades

The following changes will help reduce flooding and allow stormwater to flow through the system more easily when it rains.

  • Replace and upsize stormwater culvert pipe at street crossing

Project Goals

Install a new, upsized stormwater culvert pipe under Sweetbriar Drive to minimize flooding events in the area.
