Poole Road Stormwater Improvements

Stream Reconstruction and Headwall Repair

Private residents on Poole Road and Battery Drive experience excess water and structural erosion due to blocked and undersized pipes and stream erosion. We plan to reconstruct the stream channel and remove undersized pipes to improve stream flow and prevent pipe clogs.

Planning

This phase is complete.

Project Goals

  • Minimize streambank erosion
  • Reduce backwater/ponding effects and short-circuiting erosion due to undersized pipe
  • Removal of undersized pipe and restore stream with natural channel design principles
  • Repair of existing stormwater headwalls

Project Surveying

  • Survey and Field Data Collection will occur in Winter/Spring 2024

Next Steps

Once the consultant completes the survey and analysis of the project area, they will prepare designs for the stream and pipe repairs.

Project Map

Background

There is significant streambank erosion between private residential structures on Poole Road and Battery Drive. In addition, there is an existing pipe located behind 1412 Poole Road that is undersized and completely blocked with debris, causing backwater, excessive ponding upstream of the pipe, and erosion on structures at 1412 Poole Road.

This project was approved by the Stormwater Management Advisory Commission in September 2022 as part of the Drainage Assistance Program.
