Raleigh Parks Volunteer Services Program offers scouting projects for earning Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, or Gold Awards, Eagle Scout Awards, Adventure Scout Awards, Quartermaster Awards and more.
Program Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be a registered, actively involved Scout (Eagle candidates must be Life Scouts).
- Commit six months to complete the project before turning 18.
- Secure all funding and materials for the selected project.
- Plan and lead the project, including conducting research, gathering tools, coordinating volunteers, and communicating with City staff.
- Meet and acknowledge all requirements and policies from their local scouting council as well as the Scout Award Project Handbook.
- Propose or select an approved project that matches their skills and abilities.

| Habitat Protection Fencing at Wilkerson | Install fencing around sensitive habitats to help encourage native plant growth, protecting them from predators such as deer, as well as damage from trampling. |
| Trail Enhancements at Wilkerson | Improve the preserve's hiking trails by removing debris, adding logs to the trail's boarder, and adding gravel to the trail's surface in worn areas. |
| Invasive Plant Removal at Fallon | Improve the park by removing invasive plants that are overtaking native plants and worsening safety 'sightlines'. |
| Invasive Plant Removal at Glen Eden | Improve the park by removing invasive plants that are overtaking native plants and worsening safety 'sightlines'. |
| Propose Your Own | Scouts may submit their own project but must include detailed information for staff to review. Please allow extra time for this process. Note: “Little Library” projects will not be approved. |
