Edible Landscaping has arrived at Marsh Creek Park!

For more information on landscaping or to learn how to get started, sign up for “Foodscaping: How to Create Your Own Edible Landscape” at Marsh Creek Community Center (taught each March). Learn more about how to Grow an Edible Landscape!

Since 2022, the team that manages and cares for Marsh Creek Park has been implementing edible landscaping to meet the need for education, food supply, and design.

Orchard A/Food Forest

Anticipated arrival: Fall 2026

Orchard B

Orchard B was the second orchard placed at Marsh Creek Park (Fall 2024). This orchard features 23 fruit trees grown and maintained using “Backyard Orchard Culture” and “High-Density Planting” methods. The orchard was designed in an oval shape on the perimeter of the field to provide shade and long-term food production while continuing to allow open space for park use.

  • Fuji Apple and Granny Smith apples (pollination partners planted in the same hole)

  • Bounty peach
  • Whitegold cherry
  • Utah cherry
  • Red pomegranate
  • Bartlett pear
  • Moonglow pear
  • Prolific pawpaw
  • Wells pawpaw
  • Black Mission fig
  • Tiger fig
  • Violette de Bordeaux fig
  • Ozark and Burbank plums (pollination partners planted in the same hole)

Orchard C

Anticipated arrival: Fall 2025

Teaching Orchard

The Teaching Orchard was the first orchard placed at Marsh Creek Park (2022). This orchard features nine fruit trees and are managed using “Backyard Orchard Culture” to show that a wide variety of fruits can be grown in a small space.

Edible Landscaping Around the Park

You can find edible landscaping placed throughout Marsh Creek Park and around the Community Center. This landscaping is intended to highlight the beauty of edible plants while also providing produce throughout the year for park visitors.
