Pre-K potters will have a clayful experience by exploring basic handbuilding skills to create themed magnet from a slab of clay. Pieces will be left for firing and available for pickup 2-3 weeks after the last class. All supplies included. A parent or caregiver attends with child, only the child should be registered for the class. 1 session.

Create ring dishes, or catch-all trays for your home using hand-building techniques. Examples will be provided but I would love to see your ideas! The first day of class, students will create ceramic works, and the second day they will decorate them with vibrant glazes. This class is a great way for Teens to explore art! Supplies are included. Projects will be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after the last class.

"Jewelry Journeys" is a transformative program that seamlessly merges creative expression and mindfulness in the realm of making jewelry. In this unique experience, participants will embark on a voyage of self-discovery, learning the art of beading while making personally creative pieces. This program goes beyond the traditional craft class by exploring the intricacies of colors, the significance of beads as representations of earth elements, and guiding participants in creating bold, unique pieces that make a lasting impression. Through mindful crafting and personalized creations, participants will not only acquire the skills of jewelry making but also find an outlet for stress reduction and self-care. Join this program for an enriching journey toward wellness through the artistry of beading. 5 Sessions. All supplies included. Ages 13 and up.

Watercolor Batik

Register for Watercolor Batik

Learn a new painting technique using the batik method with watercolor. Watercolor batik is the process of using traditional watercolor paint and wax to create unique and beautiful batik-style paintings on Japanese rice paper. This process is similar to the age-old technique where melted wax is applied to fabric as a resist and then the fabric is dipped in dye. Students will begin the process with a drawing and then learn to create highlights and shadows, as well as how to mask areas of the project with wax. Supply list prints on receipt. 2 sessions.

Swing Lockets

Make a locket or two with a tube rivet for your fastener. The tube rivet allows the two sides to swing open. Students will use the hydraulic press to make mirroring sides which be sawn out and riveted with a tube set and will be embellished both on the inside and the outside. Prerequisite: Beginning Metals at Pullen or Sertoma. Supply kits available for purchase for $15. 6 sessions.

Experimental Reduction Prints in Color

Explore traditional and experimental printmaking techniques to create big, bold, dynamic, colorful prints! In this class, you will be encouraged to play, experiment, and push the boundaries of what a reduction print can be. Reduction printmaking is easy enough for a beginner or experienced printmaker to take their skill set to a new level. Students provide materials, and supply list prints on receipt. This class qualifies students for a print studio membership. 8 sessions.
 

Screen Printing: Focus on Fabric
Instructor: Keith Norval
Ages: 16+ years

In this class, we will use our own screen-printed designs to create T-shirts, tote bags, and hand towels. Techniques we will study are using a paper stencil, hand-made screen designs, and computer-printed designs. We will learn how to apply photo emulsion, and printing techniques, and how to create a design that works well. Students provide materials, and supply list prints on receipt. 4 sessions.

Bookmaking

Who doesn’t love to get a lovely card in the mail? And to make it even more fun, these cards can be used to grow some beautiful plants. You can recycle and plant trees at the same time! In this class we will make our own paper pulp with recycled paper scraps, and then after adding different plant seeds, we will create our own paper. Once they have dried, we will turn them into lovely paper cards with stamps that can also be planted. $5 supply fee due to instructor at first class. 3 sessions.

Introduction to Linoleum Block Print in Color

Instructor: Maria Frati.
Ages: 16+ years

Register for Introduction to Linoleum Block Print in Color

Deep dive into traditional relief printmaking technique to create dynamic colorful prints! This is a great class for those new to block printmaking. We will cover linoleum carving, and tool use as well as inking and printing on presses. Additionally there will be lots of emphasis on color use in this class. Participants will learn how to mix and blend oil based inks in order to create bold, colorful work. Participants will each create an edition of 6-8 polished prints. Students provide materials, and  supply list prints on receipt. This class qualifies students for a print studio membership. 6 sessions.
