Design and construct earrings, pins, pendants, charms, or other small objects and tokens in this basic metalworking class. Students will learn how to saw, drill, file, hammer, and texture metal before joining it with rivets, and solder to create individual projects.

The purpose of this class is to introduce you to the aspects of hand made chain making while building your technical skills. We will start by working on some chain and clasp samples in copper or brass. Students can choose to continue with these metals or move on to sterling silver for their final project. Individual projects will be based on student’s experience, their investigations during sample making, and the student’s designs.

This class will introduce students to the incredible possibilities of variable screenprinting on paper. We will create hand-drawn designs and explore a variety of monoprinting techniques, including use of watercolor crayons and split fountains to create unique artworks. Students will learn the mechanics of printing, usage of light-sensitive emulsion, and registration techniques as well as approaches to creative decision-making and planning prints. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced skill levels are welcome!

Explore the possibilities of solar plate printmaking, a non-toxic, greener alternative to traditional etching. Harnessing the power of the sun or a UV exposure unit, we expose light sensitive plates that once developed can be printed either in intaglio or relief. After we’ve created the plates we will print them on Pullen’s traditional etching press. Some printmaking experience helpful, as well an open mind!

For students who are trying hard but not finding the groove you hope to find, special attention for your specific problems. This class is targeted to beginner level students who have already completed Beginning Wheel. Small class size (max of 8 students) allows for lots of individual attention.

This intermediate course takes a deep-dive into the essential techniques of painting. A must-have course for the artist who is beginning their painting practice and wants to expand and learn more about the use of materials and application techniques. Acrylics are recommended.

Learn the basics of cross stitching, including several different stitches and how to read cross stitch patterns. You will be walked through example stitches, practice patterns, and then given plenty of time to work on making a small cross stitch masterpiece of your own! If you don’t finish in class you will be able to take home the materials you need to finish in your own time. A $5 fee to the instructor covers all materials.
Printmaking - DIY Screen Printing: Paper Stencils

In this one-day workshop, we will use simple materials such as newsprint and shelf liner to create screen prints on paper. These methods can easily be adapted at home, no specialized equipment necessary! Students will learn proper printing technique, color mixing, and thorough clean-up. This is the perfect class for a DIY enthusiast, beginning printer, or experienced artist interested in creating repeatable images through quick, accessible means. Please note that we will not be learning photo emulsion in this class, and we will be printing on printmaking paper.
