Printmaking - Monotype: The Painterly Print

Monotypes are one-of-a-kind prints made from painting ink onto plates and transferring the imagery to paper using pressure. We will use acrylic plates and water-soluble oil-based inks to explore the painterly possibilities of additive and reductive methods of ink application. Students will learn ink modification techniques, multilayer printing strategies, and printing on the etching presses. We will also discuss stencil creation and usage of ghost prints to develop imagery. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced skill levels are welcome!

Learn how to solder a tube to your band, cut a precise seat for your stone, and securely set a sparkling faceted cubic zirconia. By the end of class, you'll leave with a beautiful custom ring and the skills to explore more advanced stone-setting techniques.

Books can come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are crafted in very different ways. If you are interested in creating unique books but want to take it a step further by filling their pages, this is the class for you. Books included will be simple single-sheet paper books, a pamphlet book, a paper bag book, and a basic Japanese stab-stitch book. Students will learn how to enhance each book using various art techniques, creating a finished piece.

Jewelry doesn't always have to be shiny. In this fun and experimental weekend workshop we will explore textures and chemical patinas and ways to combine them in finished work. I will show you how I use paste solder and cold connections in combination with multiple surface finishes. Beginners are welcome but if you are a seasoned maker we will work on how to add something new to your style.

Printmaking - Intro to Block Printing

This class will focus on block printing using unmounted linoleum to produce a small series of prints or multiple prints. Learn how to transfer your design to your block, carving and inking techniques, and how to print using the Whelan and Conrad etching presses. Topics to be covered include single color prints, multiple block prints, reduction block, and white line techniques. Class time will be composed of demonstrations and working time, allowing students to focus on the technique of their choice.

Painting - Magical Realism in Nature
