The finished product has a unique wood-grained looking texture. Come create something with “fish” bones and molten metal! Pre-requisite of Beginning Metals at either Pullen or Sertoma. Bring or choose a small object to cast in metal! Metal casting goes back to 4000 BC using open or two-piece ceramic or stone molds. In China around 1300 BC, during the Shang Dynasty, craftspeople started to use sand as the mold material. We will spend the weekend making a mold of your object out of sand and pour molten metal into that mold to make a replica of a small object. Students should plan to bring a small object to cast. A supply fee of approximately $45-50 covers all other materials. 2 sessions. Instructors: Amy Veatch and Ehko Biber.
