Youth Pottery - Clay Slab Fish Dish

Form a dish in the shape of a fish! Have fun while learning to hand build using the slab method, then apply a variety of additive and subtractive textures to make your piece unique. All supplies included. 2 sessions. Instructor: Kim Lomax.

Create your own biome out of fabric! Using a wire structure as our foundation, students will be introduced to a wide variety of techniques to mimic nature and develop their own biomes. Are you new to enameling, or do you have some experience and want to learn more? Our enameling program covers a broad spectrum of techniques in both kiln and torch fired enameling. Each class will start with an overview of the basics and include lots of time for practice. For those who are ready, there will be opportunities for open-ended experimentation with more complex pieces or specific processes. Taking a range of enameling classes will provide a full, well-rounded understanding of enameling as an art form. A required supply kit will be available for purchase at Pullen Arts Center for $25 and students must bring their own N95 mask. 6 sessions.

Painting - Beginning Watercolor Groundwork for Adventure

Register for Painting - Beginning Watercolor Groundwork for Adventure

Students will learn the basic skills of watercolor painting and how to create colorful and glowing effects. The instructor will demonstrate the properties of paints, paper and brushes, wet and dry techniques, washes, glazes, and traditional methods of developing a watercolor painting. Students will gain an understanding of how pigment and water work along with specific brush skills. Skills to be taught include the use of the color wheel, how values work, and the importance of leaving your whites and mixing bright colors, neutrals, and darks. Paints and brushes are provided for use during class. A list of additional required materials will print on receipt. This class qualifies students for a painting studio membership. 6 sessions. Pottery - Advanced Handbuilding: Tree of Life Candelabra

Register for Pottery - Advanced Handbuilding: Tree of Life Candelabra

A hand-crafted, personalized centerpiece for your home? Yes, please! We will use a variety of methods to create a one-of-a-kind centerpiece/candelabra for your table or mantle. Traditional Tree of Life examples will be explored as well as unique and personal interpretations. This process relies heavily on decorations. The instructor will share their vast and personal supply of sprig molds, shape cutters, and textures. You are encouraged to bring you own items as well. Different finishes will also be taught with your own underglazes or dipping in studio glazes, or maybe a little of both! This is an intense 7 week class and it is recommended that you do not miss any classes. This class is designed for experienced handbuilders. 7 sessions. Instructor: Julie Rowe.

This class is for intermediate and advanced watercolor students who wish to further their technical mastery and development on a personal level. The instructor will provide one-on-one assistance with regards to planning a composition, use of transparent color layers, and value placement for creating a dramatic affect. Printmaking - Learn to Screen Print

Learn how to screen print! This class will cover the entire screen printing process, from selecting imagery and preparing screens, to registration and printing, to reclaiming your screens so you can start fresh for your next screen print idea. Painting - Impressionistic Watercolors with the Mouth Atomizer

Register for Painting - Impressionistic Watercolors with the Mouth Atomizer

Learn to create impressionistic watercolors with the mouth atomizer. The atomizer is a device that is used to spray watercolor paint, ink, or other liquids evenly over a surface. A traditional, non-aerosol way to apply paint, the mouth atomizer functions like an airbrush powered by your breath. The atomizing technique creates an atmospheric effect that is difficult to achieve with a brush. We will create several paintings using this technique with step-by-step instruction. Join this class to learn both drawing fundamentals as well as colored pencil techniques! Gesture drawing, shading, and blending are just a couple of techniques we will be working on, all while keeping in mind and learning more about the color wheel, color theory, and different ways of blending colored pencils. Regardless of skill level walking in, we will learn and build on skills that are essential for any drawing practice. This class is great for complete beginners, beginners in colored pencils, or those with more experience who might be lacking a little color in their sketchbooks. Supply list prints on receipt.
