In 2021, the City acquired several parcels next to the King Charles (South) neighborhood area off New Bern Avenue known as Duplex Village. This development purchase was part of a strategic initiative to secure properties in key transit areas.
These parcels directly front the future Wake Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). The City plans to redevelop the site to include much needed affordable housing with open, green space along the New Bern Avenue street front.
