Future Raleigh Blvd BRT Station

In 2023, The City closed on the 2.9-million-dollar purchase of the former Zack’s Grocery site using funds from the 2020 Affordable Housing Bond. These commercial lots on the corner of New Bern Ave and Raleigh Blvd will be assembled with the longtime, City-owned corner site along Boyer Street. The planned realignment of Boyer Street will cut through the City-owned properties making up the corner triangle of land between Boyer and Waldrop Streets. This redeveloped corner will be one of the epicenters of future, planned development improvements along New Bern Ave.

As the site directly fronts the future Wake Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), there will be an enhanced station stop here as a major part of the surrounding site redevelopment. Along with the enhanced BRT station stop, The City plans to center the residential development around multi-family affordable housing with ground floor mixed-use commercial spaces along the street.

This will be an exciting stop the new BRT system and city staff plans to gather community input to guide the site’s redevelopment soon. We want to hear from you on what will be included in the development.
