Do you have questions about write-offs and deductions? Artist and tax preparer Janet Ecklebarger returns, to answer questions about the IRS Schedule C, the tax form that you need to understand as you prepare your taxes for 2024. During this workshop, Janet will guide us through the process of identifying and accounting for the many diverse income streams (from contract day jobs to grants, awards, and sales) and business-related expenses that comprise the livelihoods of many arts practitioners. Tax legislation is always changing and Janet will address how those changes will affect the various situations for artists and other self-employed individuals. A practicing artist herself, Janet has keen insights into the complexity inherent in filing taxes for creative careers. Her experience working with clients for over 18 years has also contributed to her knowledge of record-keeping strategies that can be implemented throughout the year to help you streamline the process. In addition to sharing her insights on tax-filing best practices for artists, curators, and creative producers, Janet will also be able to address questions pertinent to individualized circumstances. The class meets on Zoom and you will receive login information after registration. Consult Your Community (CYC), an organization based at NCSU supporting small businesses. Participation in the Small Business Fair is a unique opportunity for Raleigh’s small businesses to connect with over 1,000 students and local residents and share products and services with the community.  How to Sign Up: If you’re interested in joining the fair, please email CYC at ncstate@consultyourcommunity.org with the subject Small Business Fair Vendor Interest, and they will contact you with next steps. A $50 deposit is required to secure your spot, but it will be reimbursed after the event.   Event will take place at the Stafford Commons on NC State's campus.
