City of Raleigh Awarded $300,000 Digital Equity Grant

Grant from the NC Department of Information Technology Digital Champion Grant Program

The City of Raleigh is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $300,000 Digital Equity Grant from the North Carolina Department of Information Technology. This grant will support the expansion of the City’s Digital Inclusion Programming, such as the Digital Ambassador Program and Learn & Earn. These play a key role in the City’s efforts to bridge the digital divide.  

The Digital Inclusion Unit provides community programs that use technology to improve the lives of Raleigh's residents. Through various initiatives, the unit has: 

  • Trained over 3,800 residents in digital literacy
  • Distributed more than 1,000 computers to underserved individuals
  • Contributed over 10,000 hours of volunteer service

Digital equity and inclusion is a crucial component of the City’s Strategic Plan. This grant will help the City deepen engagement and reach even more citizens. We are enthusiastic about this expansion and the positive impact it will have on our community!
