Celebrating Raleigh's Digital Ambassadors

These young volunteers were recognized for their service to others

Parents and students look on as program leader speaks

There was barely a dry eye in the room at the recent recognition ceremony for the Raleigh Digital Ambassadors.

For the last nine months, these ten high school students helped refurbished 116 laptop computers for the community and collectively logged 194 service hours and 165 leadership development hours.

Digital Inclusion Program Manager, Yanira Campos, and several speakers spoke about the difference these teens have made in the lives of many of our residents.

Digital Ambassadors spearhead the new (and very popular) Advice About Your Device program, as well as help with the distribution of computers to low-income families.

Parents at the ceremony also praised the leadership of Campos, pointing out how she has engaged and encouraged the students to tackle tough problems.

These students tell us this program has helped them connect with the community on a meaningful level, and they look forward to taking the experience and building on it in the years to come.
