Orientation Approved Testing Equipment Approved Backflow Assemblies

All service providers certified to test backflow assemblies within the City of Raleigh's water service area are required to register with the Cross Connection Program prior to submitting a test report per Raleigh City Code Article D-Water Quality Protection.

All reports must be submitted in accordance with the testing schedule and requirements outlined in Public Utilities Handbook Appendix A: Guidelines and Requirements for the Cross Connection Program.

Register as a City of Raleigh Certified Tester
If you wish to test in our water service area, you must be certified by the City of Raleigh's Certification School or one of our approved schools and attend a City of Raleigh orientation session. Acceptance of your test reports cannot be made until you have successfully attended an orientation session and completed all paperwork to verify your certification.

Currently registered as a City of Raleigh Certified Tester?
To continue testing in our water service area, you are responsible to keep our records current with any renewals of your backflow certification and test kit calibrations. Test reports will not be accepted when submitted by testers with expired certificates.

Approved Testing Equipment

The purchase of a bleeder valve kit and vertical tube kit is required for performing the Double Check Valve Assembly Test. These kits are available from the equipment manufacturer.

Approved Backflow Assemblies

Article D: Water Quality Protection and Appendix A:  Guidelines and Requirements for the Cross Connection Program states that all containment backflow assemblies shall be approved by the Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research (FCCHR or USC).

List of approved backflow assemblies allowed for 'new' and 'replacement' backflows in the City of Raleigh's water service area.
