Raleigh Water's Valve Team Sets Record

Finding Success Through Team Connections

Raleigh Water’s Valve team has achieved remarkable success this year, thanks to having a complete team for the first time in years.

In recent years, the team often operated with just five members instead of the usual ten, and they were frequently reassigned to various other projects. For instance, they spent time inspecting and replacing aging water pipes, which diverted some members from their primary focus on valve maintenance. Every water system relies on valves—devices that control the flow of water in distribution lines. This team ensures these valves are functioning correctly and are ready for use through regular maintenance.

“Our preventive maintenance goals are centered around our customers, and it’s incredibly reassuring to know we’ve done everything possible to inform them of any issues and help maintain Raleigh Water’s reputation as one of the best in the nation. It truly is a team effort; everyone plays a vital role, and we take pride in delivering the best service possible. We’re like one big happy family,” shared Tyree Smith, Utilities Specialist.

Now with a full roster, the team is operating stronger than ever. In October 2024, they completed an impressive 2,693 valve maintenance tasks, a significant increase from the last highest, 2,101, completed in November 2022. More inspections lead to a lower risk of system failures.

The Raleigh Water Valve team is excited about the upcoming year and the opportunity to work together as a complete unit.
