Another successful Raleigh Water Industry Day in the books and checked off this month. This year’s event brought in new and old faces all with the same goal of learning and keeping up with wastewater guidance. The event kicked off with trading water swag, jokes and a friendly welcome from the Director of Raleigh Water, Whit Wheeler.
Each year, attendance continues to grow—and this year was no different, with dozens of professionals eager to learn, notebooks and laptops at the ready.
While the world of water may not always be top of mind—except when we turn on the shower or get a drink from the faucet—in this room, there was a strong sense of camaraderie. Professionals greeted one another like old friends and asked thoughtful, informed questions, all with the shared goal of bringing the highest water quality to our communities.
Several Raleigh Water leaders took turns speaking on a range of topics, including a wastewater overview, City monitoring requirements, stormwater inspections, root cause analysis, pretreatment updates, and our bioenergy program.
The event also provided a moment to recognize industry professionals who achieved 100% compliance with their permits last year—no violations, all submissions on time, and no major findings.
