About the Wake BRT: New Bern Avenue Project

The New Bern Avenue corridor will soon be home to Raleigh’s first BRT route, connecting downtown Raleigh to WakeMed and New Hope Road. Once the project is complete, you’ll see:

  • Dedicated bus lanes for faster, more reliable service
  • Enhanced stations that are comfortable and accessible
  • Traffic signal priority to keep buses moving
  • Specialized BRT vehicles designed for smooth, efficient rides

This is more than a bus upgrade; it’s a City project that brings better access, greater reliability, and smarter mobility to one of Raleigh’s busiest corridors.
