Raleigh’s bikeshare program, Cardinal Bikeshare, is a partnership between the City of Raleigh and Bewegen Technologies, Inc. It's a part of the City's effort to provide more ways to get around our rapidly growing downtown.
More information about the Cardinal Bikeshare program, including membership options, active and future stations, and payment kiosk locations can be found on the Cardinal Bikeshare website or on the Cardinal Bikeshare app. Below is some information to get you started.
How to Rent a Bicycle
Prospective users can rent a Cardinal Bikeshare bike one of three ways:
- Use the Cardinal Bikeshare website,
- Download the Cardinal Bikeshare app,
- Access one of the 15 stations payment kiosks.
Future expansion of the system will include “virtual stations” that will allow a bike to be picked up and dropped off at custom locations for special events.
The price to ride ranges from $2 for single trips to a monthly pass at $20 and annual membership at $85.
Annual Plus Memberships are $95 and include unlimited 60-minute rides.
About the Bikes
Every Cardinal Bikeshare bike comes with an adjustable seat, a basket, a bell, front and rear lights which automatically light up when you begin to pedal. A dashboard allows users to track their distance, speed, and riding time. Two-thirds of the fleet will be electric-assist bikes, which will help to make Raleigh’s hilly terrain easier to navigate.
Where to Find a Bike
There are currently 32 Cardinal Bikeshare stations spread out around the downtown core and Hillsborough Street.
