What is Vision Zero?

Vision Zero is a goal to reduce and eliminate serious injuries and fatalities along our transportation network while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility for all.

Speed Kills

As you can see in the graphic there is a direct correlation between the speed of a vehicle and the probability of a fatality. As speed increases, so does the percentage of fatalities. In the event of a vehicle and person collision where the car speed was 40 mph, there is an 80% chance of a fatality.
