Your Path to Becoming a Call Taker or Telecommunicator
1. Application Review: Submit your application by Feb. 5, 2025, before 11:59 p.m
2. Employment Skills Test: Qualified applicants will complete the CritiCall assessment, evaluating skills such as:
- Data entry
- Typing speed and accuracy
- Spelling
- Reading comprehension
3. Panel Interview: Pass the test and move on to a virtual panel interview.
4. Next Steps: Recommended candidates will complete:
- A criminal background check
- A psychological evaluation
- Additional pre-employment requirements
Academy Training and Job Duties
During the academy, you'll receive hands-on training to become a 911 call taker or a telecommunicator. Core responsibilities include:
- Answering emergency (911), non-emergency, and administrative calls
- Gathering critical information from callers
- Entering data into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system
