Lake Lynn Loop Trail Improvements

Repaving and Drainage Improvements

The project is under construction. The Lake Lynn Loop Trail Improvement Project includes grading, drainage, repaving and widening of the trail from 8’ to 10’ along a ¾ mile section of the east side of the loop trail at Lake Lynn, between the dam adjacent to Lynn Road and the intersection of the boardwalk just south of the Lake Lynn Community Center. These improvements will help address trail asphalt damage due to tree roots, aged asphalt and will also improve user conflicts associated with inadequate pavement width.

Construction

The Lake Lynn Loop Trail will be closed along the east side of Lake Lynn beginning May 1, 2022 through the end of November 2022 due to a trail renovation project. A detour route will be available during construction along the west side of the Lake Lynn Loop Trail, however, access around the entire lake will not be available. The properties adjacent to the east side of Lake Lynn will not have direct access to the greenway trail during this time and have been advised to use parking lots located at Lake Lynn Community Center, 7921 Ray Road,  and the main Lake Lynn Loop access point located at 3210 Lynn Road. This project is supported by 2014 Parks Bond funding.

History

The Capital Area Greenway System was first adopted by City Council in 1976. This plan proposed a system of linear parks located primarily along rivers, streams, and creeks, and included the opportunity for an interconnected system of pedestrian trails across the region.
