Feasibility and Preliminary Design

Project Overview

The Marsh Creek Greenway project includes a feasibility study and preliminary design for the future development of a new greenway trail within the Marsh Creek Corridor of the Capital Area Greenway System. The project’s study area extends approximately 6 miles from the Crabtree Creek Trail to Spring Forest Road. The project, once constructed with future funding, will provide access to residential communities as well as connections to Brentwood Park, Hill Street Park and the Crabtree Creek Trail.

Planning

The City has selected Alta Planning + Design, Inc., in collaboration with STV Engineers, Inc., to lead the Marsh Creek Greenway Planning and Feasibility Study. Preliminary design will also be completed with this phase of the project.

The Planning and Feasibility study will begin in July 2025 and is estimated to be complete within 12 months. The second phase of the project will include the design of the greenway trail and is estimated to be completed by the spring of 2028. If funding allows, the construction of the greenway is estimated to begin in late 2028. 

Community engagement for this project will begin in early 2026. 

The planning and feasibility portions of the project are funded with the 2022 Parks Bond.
