Feasibility and Preliminary Design

Project Overview

The Marsh Creek Greenway Trail project includes a feasibility study and preliminary design for the future development of a new greenway trail within the Marsh Creek Corridor of the Capital Area Greenway System. The project’s study area extends approximately 6 miles from the Crabtree Creek Trail to Spring Forest Road. The project, once constructed with future funding, will provide access to residential communities as well as connections to Brentwood Park, Hill Street Park and the Crabtree Creek Trail.

Planning

Alta Planning + Design, Inc., in collaboration with STV Engineers, Inc., is leading the Marsh Creek Greenway Trail Planning and Feasibility Study. The study began in July 2025 and will be completed in late 2026. The next phase of the project will begin in early 2027 to include recommendations for priority segments, preliminary design, estimates of probable costs, funding opportunities, and easement acquisition.

The planning and feasibility phases are funded by the 2022 Parks Bond.
