The Partnerships and Urban Development unit of the Urban Projects Group works with external and internal partners to make plan visions a reality through innovative partnerships and creative problem-solving. The team’s focus lies at the intersection of real estate, economic and community development, financial analysis, and project delivery.
There are two key functions of this team:
- Coordinate public-private partnerships (P3s) that deliver critical infrastructure and public benefits faster, cheaper, and with less risk than traditional methods. (Read more about the City's Partnership Policy for details.)
- Facilitate redevelopment of high-priority City-owned sites that require complex solicitation, negotiation, disposition, and partnership processes. Such sites often include a mix of affordable and market-rate housing, hotel space, retail, and community uses. (Examples include the Former DMV and Moore Square East and South sites.)
Key tasks include:
- Leading the coordination and negotiation of partnership agreements with the private sector.
- Conducting pre-development financial and urban design analysis for early-stage City projects.
- Project management and strategy for City-led redevelopment sites.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement.
Other departments that we collaborate with regularly to achieve these goals include:
