Course Information How to Apply

The Raleigh Planning Academy is for anyone who cares about their community! Whether you've been involved in your neighborhood for years or you're a new resident – if you want to make a difference in your community, the Planning Academy is for you. It offers residents a greater understanding of the role planning plays in building communities and empowers them with the knowledge of how and when residents can be involved in planning processes.

We aim to empower residents on the best ways to navigate the complex world of land development and community planning. Participants will learn best practices for engaging with staff and their neighbors on rezoning and large-scale projects in their neighborhoods.

Course Information

The next Raleigh Planning Academy will be held over five weeks October 5, 12, 19, 26 and November 2 from 6-8 p.m. in the Urban Design Center in Downtown Raleigh. This location is easily accessible via transit.

Our goal is to have a group of participants as diverse as our city! Priority may be given to those who live in specific geographic areas, renters (as the only and primary residence), or those with experience advocating for under-invested communities.
