What Should Be Ready Before the Inspector Arrives?
The work must be ready to inspect. Keep the approved plans and permits on site. Make sure the inspector can safely reach the work.
Inspection Requests and Scheduling
Submit the request by 3 p.m. for the next workday. A request is not a guaranteed appointment. Staff will confirm the inspection based on workload, location, and the type of work.
Field Changes and Plan Revisions
Stop and contact the inspector before making a change in the field. A field or plan revision may be required when the work moves from the approved location, affects another utility, changes the design, or involves more than one trade.
Temporary Construction Water
Two options are available for construction water:
- Request a hydrant meter.
- Get permits for a temporary water connection with a contractor-installed tap and meter.
- The tap must be inspected and signed off prior to meter installation.
- Use this page to begin the meter request process. Start, Stop, or Transfer Utility Services | Raleighnc.gov
Street, Lane, and Sidewalk Closures during construction
For projects in Raleigh's jurisdiction, the contractor must have an approved traffic control plan and a permit prior to closing any streets, lanes, or sidewalks.
