Parks to Adopt/How to Adopt Program Requirements Cleaning Up Your Park One-Time Cleanups Other Volunteer Opportunities

The Adopt-A-Park program encourages community responsibility for our environment through scheduled litter cleanups. This program is a year-long commitment (with the option to extend) where organizations, groups, businesses, families, and individuals (18 years of age and older) agree to participate in a minimum of 6 cleanups a year.

We appreciate your interest in keeping Raleigh clean!

Powell Drive Park is where our Grandkids played.  After retiring, my wife and I 'adopted' the park for monthly litter pick-ups.  As the Grands grew, they joined us in our clean-up sessions - lots of fun times together.  It's been rewarding to see the park 'grow' too - new children's playground, rebuilt tennis courts, renovated pavilion, new restrooms, improved basketball court, new garden of native plants.  After some 12 years, our advice is:  Volunteer - it helps keep you young!"

After selecting an available park below, complete this registration form to apply.

Program Requirements

  1. After selecting a park our staff will reach out to you to complete an application & background check to get you started.
  2. Once you and your location has been approved, you’ll sign an agreement & release form.
  3. Schedule your cleanup dates with the staff.
  4. Report your hours after each cleanup.

Note: It is the responsibility of a group's point of contact to notify our office of any changes within their group as it affects their adoption (i.e. changes in primary contact, phone number, email, address, etc.). Failure to notify the office of any changes may result in termination of your adoption.

* The Volunteer Services Team shall coordinate, review, and approve the proposed area of adoption. If there is a question of safety or health, the proposed adoption will not be approved.

Cleaning Up Your Park

You'll be the eyes and ears of the selected park. You will help us by collecting litter, identifying broken, missing items and structures within the park.
