- Special Programming: Throughout the year, the COR Museum offers special tours and programs, as well as school group tours. Volunteers interested in working with the public, especially school children K-12, should choose this pathway. Special programming includes thematic walking tours, educational programming, the Raleigh Reads book club, and other tours and group meetings. In general this pathway includes a lot of time on your feet and interaction with the public.
- Special Events: Volunteers interested in helping with special events at the museum should choose this pathway. Though the museum hosts several special events throughout the year, this pathway requires fewer regular hours of commitment. It does require interaction with the public and some time on your feet.
- Research: Volunteers interested in researching Raleigh's history should choose the research pathway. Research topics vary: architectural history, African American history, women's history, political history- research will be used for exhibits, special tours, education programs, events, or media features. This pathway requires little public interaction or work on your feet.

- Moore Square Historical Guide - Moore Square’s history dates all the way back to Raleigh’s roots. Help share Raleigh’s story and engage our visitors as a historical tour guide. Tours dates and times are scheduled on a monthly basis. Due to the training necessary to become a tour guide for the Square, we ask that this opportunity be reserved for volunteers able to dedicate at least four hours per month and are at least 18 years of age. Hours for this event are to be determined.

- Historic Walking Tour Guide: help deliver the story of Pullen Park, including such unique facts about the former zoo, as well as the details behind Raleigh’s first public swimming pool. Interested candidates should be outgoing, energetic and well spoken. Memorization of a loose script is suggested, but not required. Dates and times will be discussed with the Program Manager, but a consistent weekly commitment is required.
- Special Events: be on the lookout for our volunteer needs for our special events large and small. Our biggest needs for events are centered around Holiday Express (December), Letterland Day (April), Egg Hunts, and Halloween. These large scale events are great ways for groups or individuals to give back and also do some team building at the same time.
- Park Clean Up: Our Parks division hosts regular opportunities to help clean up Pullen Park.
- Unique Programming Opportunities: Do you have a unique business or talent that you feel would entertain the guests at Pullen Park and the John Chavis Memorial Park Carousel? Are you a DJ and want to spin a few records? Have you mastered the art of balloon twisting? Do you have a knack for making giant bubbles? Do you have a passion for art? We are open to all ideas for volunteer opportunities, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with a way you feel you might be able to contribute. We will do our best to bring you on board as part of the team.
