Why are Biltmore Hills Tennis Courts & Ballfield Closing?  What is the project timeline?  What will happen to programming during this time? Where are users of the small ballfield directed to go? Still have questions?

Biltmore Hills Park will undergo renovations starting in August 2026. This project is part of the 2022 Parks Bond.

The renovation is essential to better serve our growing tennis community. We also understand that the temporary entrance, parking, and tennis court closures will be challenging. Biltmore Hills staff are here to support you, answer questions, and share updates throughout the process.

Why are Biltmore Hills Tennis Courts & Ballfield Closing?

To better serve our growing community and prepare for future recreation needs, this construction project will focus on the following changes:

  • Tennis Expansion: Eight additional tennis courts will be created by converting the small ballfield. This change allows an increase of park usage with more local drop-in tennis play, programs, leagues and the ability to host larger events.
  • Accessibility: Accessible walkways, lighting and viewing will be added to ensure the entire park is easier for everyone to navigate.
  • Parking Lot: Redesigned lower parking lot with sidewalks, lighting and charging stations.
  • Parking Circle: New parking circle and accessible parking spaces for the new tennis courts and existing large shelter.
  • Large Ballfield Upgrades: A new scoreboard, improved lighting for the remaining large ballfield area to enhance the experience for baseball and softball practice, games, and rentals.

What is the project timeline?

The effected areas will be closed off to the public starting August 2026 – Date TBD

What will happen to programming during this time?

During construction, park programming will continue for the large ballfield, basketball, pool, most shelters and indoor community center activities. Tennis programming and play will not be available on the existing tennis courts and the lower parking lot and entrance will be closed during construction. For tennis court locations and other tennis information, visit the Raleigh Parks Tennis Program.

Where are users of the small ballfield directed to go?

The small ballfield will be closed during construction, as it is being replaced with the 8 new tennis courts. The large ballfield will remain open and will be undergoing improvements to accommodate age groups. The large field now has new lights and a new scoreboard. Movable bases will be added before the 2027 baseball season.
