Raleigh Parks is partnering with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) to expand access to nutritious meals for children attending summer camps—helping ensure that every child has what they need to play, learn, and thrive during the summer months. This support is especially critical for families who may lose access to school-based meal programs once the academic year ends.
Through this partnership, Blue Cross NC will fund 6,000 meals across three weeks of summer camps, supporting children in neighborhoods most affected by food insecurity. Raleigh Parks will continue to provide meals throughout the season, serving thousands of campers and helping reduce financial barriers for families.
“This partnership with Blue Cross NC helps us ensure more Raleigh kids have the nutritious meals they need to enjoy summer camp to the fullest. We're grateful for partners who help us strengthen our impact for local families,” says Darrell Kain, Community Engagement Supervisor for Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to child wellness and access to healthy food. By investing in summer nutrition, Blue Cross NC helps ensure campers stay fueled for active play, social connection, and memorable summer experiences.
